“Beautiful is boring and perfect is
never polished”
– Delaney Gibson |
Fronting a new breed of music with substance and style, emerging
artist Delaney Gibson is anything but ordinary, and is beyond the
extraordinary. With the perfect fusion of folk, alternative, and
pop sounds, Delaney has become known for her remarkable and rare
voice, signature acoustic rhythmic piano and intricate melodies.
Delaney has been performing non-stop since the age of five but it
wasn’t until she went off to college at San Francisco State
University that she began perfecting her unique craft of
songwriting. She then moved back to Southern California, where she
received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from California
State University Northridge. Delaney quickly moved onto pursuing
her career in music full force, putting out a debut six-song EP in
2007 entitled Cruel and Beautiful. Delaney was received
with open arms into the music industry, quickly earning the
respect of fellow musicians across the world as she toured through
Europe, while performing with many notable artists including:
Barbara Streisand, Barry Manilow, and the legendary Andrea Bocelli.
Cruel and Beautiful debuted to rave reviews and also
garnered praise for Delaney as an artist; The Ventura County
Reporter described Delaney as “an undiscovered brilliant
vocalist,” The Santa Barbara Independent said “Gibson boldly
breaks the mold of untalented, young female artists playing
generic pop songs,” while The Mustang Daily said “Gibson has not
only mastered the guitar, piano, and vocals, but she writes all of
her own songs as well, making her a quadruple threat,” to name a
few.
With her sultry, classically-trained, powerhouse
voice and gritty songwriting, Delaney continued to be honored with
prominent awards throughout 2007 including: solo vocal finalist at
The Eisteddfod Music Festival in Wales, Best of L.A. Singer /
Songwriter Finalist, and she took home four MAVRIC Awards for
“Best Alternative Song,” “Best R&B Song,” “Vocal Performance of
the Year,” and “Best EP of the Year.” This was just the beginning
for Delaney, she was also chosen to be one of a select number of
performers invited to the Sedona Jam Emerging Artists Music
Festival in Sedona, Arizona, and was a semi-finalist at the Winery
Music Awards in Paso Robles. Delaney was given an honorable
mention and received near perfect scores by The Billboard Song
Contest for her songs “Turn My World Around” and “Unattached.” Her
EP was also featured on the cover of the February 2007 Discmakers
Catalog. The momentum did not stop there, as a member of the
Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Delaney guest starred as a singer on the
FOX hit series Boston Public and MTV’s My Own.
After having a taste of success with her first EP, Delaney
decided to head back to the studio to record her first full length
album. She began recording at Brotheryn Studios in Ojai,
California. Delaney recruited a top-notch team to help her with
this project, first working with producer Andrew Synowiec [Marc
Anthony, Aimee Mann, Aly & AJ, Jordin Sparks, Bittersweet, A Fine
Frenzy] and them working with producer Jesse Siebenberg [Supertramp,
A Fine Frenzy.] The result of her efforts came twelve tracks that
would make up her full-length album, The Worst Kind of Way.
Delaney Gibson has undeniably set the stage to become one
of the most fascinating artists of her generation. With a style
all her own, and with honesty, allure and grace behind her music,
Delaney’s originality in each song and her music’s ability to
transcend genres is a rare gem to find in today’s music scene.
Delaney allows the listener to become actively engaged in her
songs of independence, love, mortality, and whimsy through her
quirky and witty lyrics, and she allows them to be transported to
a world of sincerity and beauty. Delaney’s highly anticipated
debut full-length album The Worst Kind of Way was
officially released on September 2, 2008.
